« The two conferences, Musical Multimedia in Contemporary Italy on 22–23 January 2026 and Analysing and Teaching Singing on 12–13 February, are the first results of the research activities carried out by IULM University as part of the SISS project» explains Stefano Lombardi Vallauri, one of the organisers of the events in Milan and IULM’s representative for the SISS project. «Both topics have been the subject of reflection by Italian and foreign scholars and artists, in an atmosphere of highly fruitful dialogue. Relationships have been forged, keywords identified, and lines of action established for future in-depth research and teaching. The two conferences will result in two scientific publications in English containing original contributions from an interdisciplinary perspective.
From the Rossini bel canto scholar who engages in dialogue with the Sanremo singers’ vocal coach, to the linguistic phonetician who exchanges ideas with the extreme vocal technique virtuoso, to the silent film soundtrack composer who shares techniques with the video game music specialist, the hallmark of both conferences is transversality and the unification of fields: each participant’s desire to refine their own perspective by adopting the viewpoint of others».
