This Gender Equality Plan outlines our strategies, measures, and monitoring processes to ensure fairness, inclusion, and equal opportunities throughout all phases of the project.

INTRODUCTION

This Gender Equality Plan (GEP) outlines the strategic vision and practical actions of the SISS project to promote gender equality and inclusivity across all levels of participation, production, governance, research, and dissemination. Rooted in the European Commission’s strategic objectives on gender equality in research and innovation, this GEP provides a structural, measurable, and participatory framework for improving gender balance and integrating a gender perspective throughout the project’s lifecycle.

This plan is structured along four priority areas:

  1. Organizational Culture & Work-Life Balance
  2. Gender Balance in Leadership and Career Progression
  3. Gender Dimension in Research and Teaching
  4. Prevention of Gender-Based Violence and Harassment

 

AREA 1

Organizational Culture & Work-Life Balance

OBJECTIVES

  • Foster a gender-sensitive organizational culture
  • Promote inclusive communication and shared responsibility
  • Facilitate work-life balance for all participants
 

ACTIONS

  • 1.1 Internal Engagement and Dialogue

Conduct annual surveys and/or focus groups on gender equality perceptions and experiences among staff and students


Indicators: At least one survey and one group session per year

 
  • 1.2 Data Collection and Monitoring

Systematic collection of gender-disaggregated data on participants, staff, speakers, juries, leadership positions


Indicators: Annual published report

  • 1.3 Inclusive Communication Guidelines

Develop and disseminate guidelines on gender-inclusive language across all project documentation and communication

Indicators: Guideline document; communication audit

 
  • 1.4 Dissemination of Gender Equality Measures

Update website and communication channels with gender equality actions and initiatives


Indicators: Website updates; number of shared posts or public materials annually

 

AREA 2

Gender Balance in Leadership and Career Progression

OBJECTIVES

  • Ensure gender-balanced representation in selection and evaluation committees
  • Promote women’s career progression and leadership in the arts and academia

ACTIONS

  • 2.1  Gender Representation in Committees

Ensure, wherever possible, gender parity in all selection, evaluation, and advisory committees

Indicators: At least 40% representation of each gender in all committees

 
  • 2.2 Training and Empowerment

Offer empowerment workshops for underrepresented genders on leadership, visibility, and self-advocacy


Indicators: At least 1 training session per year

 

Area 3

Integration of Gender in Research and Teaching

OBJECTIVES

  • Embed gender perspectives in research topics and artistic outputs
  • Promote awareness of gender issues in audiovisual and music studies

ACTIONS

  • 3.1 Gender-aware Research Content

Encourage gender-inclusive themes in calls for works, academic conferences, and research publications


Indicators: % of gender-focused research outputs or presentations

 
  • 3.2 Educational and Public Engagement Activities

Deliver educational seminars on gender equality, diversity, and inclusion for students and the public


Indicators: At least one public seminar or lecture per year

 

Area 4

Prevention of Gender-Based Violence and Harassment

OBJECTIVES

  • Raise awareness of violence and harassment issues
  • Establish safe reporting and support systems for all participants

ACTIONS

  • 4.1 Awareness Campaigns

Organize annual awareness events (e.g. workshops, performances, discussions) on gender-based violence and harassment


Indicators: One event per year

 
  • 4.2  Support and Listening Services

Establish a dedicated confidential listening and support service (onsite or online)


Indicators: Contact point in place; support staff identified and trained

 

IMPLEMENTATION AND MONITORING

The GEP will be monitored bi-annually with a report delivered to the SISS project board, summarizing progress, identifying gaps, and proposing adjustments. Monitoring will include:

  • Gender-disaggregated participation data in all WPs
  • Evaluation of calls and commissions for gender fairness
  • Feedback from stakeholders on inclusivity and climate

APPROVAL AND REVIEW

This GEP is valid for the duration of the SISS project, until March 2026 and will be updated as needed based on project developments and feedback.
