In early January 2026, just before the event that will bring the world of SISS to Trento, the orchestra from the F. A. Bonporti Conservatory in Trento and Riva del Garda will be rehearsing for their European tour. On
the stage of the ‘Andrea Mascagni’ Auditorium, students from the Trentino Conservatory are performing alongside those from the Academia Naţională de Muzică ‘Gheorghe Dima’ in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and the Muzička Akademija Sveučilišta in Zagreb, Croatia, under the direction of Andrea Raffanini.
This is what SISS is all about: promoting Italy’s film heritage by reworking original soundtracks. Here, historic films from the early 20^(th) century are brought back to life through the sounds of their original
soundtracks, presented in a modern arrangement. The new musical arrangements are by composers Andrea Siano, Paolo Orlandi, Cosimo Colazzo and others. Students from Italian and European academies were also involved in the project.

The arrangements were created by students from the following institutions:

– Saint Louis College of Music in Rome (Santiago Bianchi and Luca Nizzia), coordinated by Ludovico Fulci
– Conservatory “S. Pietro a Majella” in Naples (Angela Feo, Cristian Lombardi and Vincenzo Russo), coordinated by Paolo Tortiglione
– Conservatory “Bonporti” in Trento and Riva del Garda (Michele Callà, Sebastiano De Salvo and Paolo Orlandi), coordinated by Nicola Straffelini
The concept and research were carried out by Francesco Finocchiaro, a professor at the Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro, and Fabio Cifariello Ciardi, a professor at the Bonporti Conservatory and the general coordinator of Sounding Images – Screening Sounds (SISS).
Original music was recovered with the help of the Luigi Chiarini Library at the Experimental Centre of Cinematography in Rome and the Riccardo Zandonai International Study Centre in Rovereto. The films were provided by the Bologna Film Library (video processing by Sebastiano Beozzo).
The cine-concert recording will be streamed on 25 January 2026 at 20:00 on the Bonporti Conservatory YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@conservatoriof.a.bonporti2054). The Bonporti Orchestra will then give concerts in Estonia (Tallinn, Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, 7 February 2026) and Romania (Cluj-Napoca, Gheorghe Dima Music Academy, 3 March 2026).
