Sounding Images – Screening Sounds (SISS) is a production and research project that won first prize in a major 2024 competition organised by the Ministry of Universities and Research and supported by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU fund, which was granted through the PNRR to support the internationalisation of Higher Education Institutes of Art and Music (AFAM).
The project redefines the traditional relationship between music and image, and from February 2025 until the end of March 2026 it will travel across Europe thanks to the collaboration of its four partners: the F. A. Bonporti Conservatory of Trento and Riva del Garda (the project leader), the T. Schipa Conservatory in Lecce, IULM University in Milan and the IED (European Institute of Design) in Milan.
On 12 and 13 January, the protagonists of this major international project will meet in Trento to present and discuss artistic works resulting from research and experimentation. This will provide an opportunity to explore the relationship between sound and image, hear from the composers of the new commissions, give AFAM students and partner academies a platform, and showcase the winners of the SISS Open Call and their audiovisual creations. The two intense days will also see the Bonporti Conservatory Orchestra and Ensemble engaged in recording concerts for film on their European tour.
